The initial consultation

At JUVENIS, we not only want to provide you with the best medical care, but also ensure that you feel well advised and informed. For this reason, a detailed consultation takes place before the actual breast correction treatment.

Our aesthetic surgeons will take your individual wishes and aesthetic problems into account. They will discuss your expectations and ideas with you and show you both the possibilities and limitations of breast correction. A treatment plan tailored to your personal needs will be drawn up. The costs incurred by you will also be discussed.

All your questions will be answered in detail. Only when you have made a decision in peace will we arrange a treatment appointment with you.

Preoperative examinations

Important examinations should be carried out before corrective surgery. In addition to a precise hormone examination, an ultrasound examination or mammography of the breast is also necessary.

No anticoagulant medication, such as aspirin, should be taken ten days before the procedure.

The operation for gynecomastia

The operation is usually performed under general anesthesia, in some cases also under twilight sleep. An internal surgical release is required as standard.

The operation takes about 1-2 hours. The enlarged mammary gland is removed through an incision starting from the areola. In some cases, liposuction is also performed to improve the shape of the breast. If there is additional excess skin, the skin around the areola can be tightened.

Liposuction is usually the treatment of choice for pseudogynecomastia. If the excess skin is too large, a breast lift is also necessary.

If the surgical and postoperative course is free of complications, a day hospital stay is sufficient. A clinical stay is possible if required.

Postoperative course

A compression bandage is applied after the operation. Later, the compression bandage can be replaced by a compression shirt, which you will wear day and night for a further 6 weeks. Pay particular attention to physical rest. You should not do any sport for 6 weeks after the operation. Showering is possible 1 to 2 days after the operation with shower plasters.

Cost of gynecomastia treatment

*The exact cost of a gynecomastia depends on the initial situation and the extent of the operation. In order to work out the right treatment concept for you, we would like to invite you to a detailed consultation with our plastic surgeons. An individual cost estimate will then be drawn up during this consultation.

FAQs

Gynecomastia refers to an enlargement of the male breast, which can result from an increase in glandular tissue, fatty tissue, or both. It can occur on one or both sides and is often considered unsightly.

The causes can vary widely, including:

  • hormonal changes (e.g., puberty, aging)

  • genetic predisposition

  • Overweight

  • certain medications

  • hormonal disorders

Before treatment, the cause is determined on a case-by-case basis.

Surgery is recommended if gynecomastia:

  • persists

  • does not resolve on its own

  • is perceived as aesthetically or psychologically distressing

  • cannot be improved through exercise and weight loss

The procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia. Depending on the findings, excess glandular tissue is removed and/or liposuction is performed. The goal is to achieve a flat, masculine chest contour.

The initial recovery period lasts about 1 to 2 weeks. A compression garment should be worn for several weeks to aid healing.

The initial results are visible immediately after the procedure. The final results become apparent after a few months, once the swelling has completely subsided.

Yes, small scars will form, but they are usually inconspicuous and located within the areola, and they will fade over time.

As with any surgical procedure, risks such as swelling, bruising, infection, or wound healing complications may occur. Careful planning and follow-up care help minimize these risks.

Yes. Removed glandular tissue generally does not regrow. However, a stable lifestyle—particularly with regard to weight and hormonal factors—is essential for long-lasting results.

After the procedure, you should:

  • Avoid physical exertion

  • wear a compression garment

  • follow the doctor's post-treatment instructions

This promotes optimal healing and the best possible outcome.

The cost depends on the extent of the procedure and the individual circumstances, starting at €3,500.

You will receive the exact prices during a personal consultation, during which a customized cost estimate will be prepared.

In certain cases—particularly when medically necessary— the health insurance provider may cover part of the costs. This is determined on a case-by-case basis.
