Abdominoplasty - Tummy tuck in Vienna

A smooth and firm abdomen looks very attractive on both men and women. An abdominoplasty, also known as a tummy tuck or abdominoplasty, can remedy this and smooth out a sagging stomach.

Pregnancies, but also major weight fluctuations (both weight gain and weight loss) are typical causes of "tummy problems". If excess fat, skin flaps and sagging tissue develop, the smooth and firm abdomen disappears.
Depending on the extent of the sagging tissue, a customized abdominoplasty or a classic complete abdominoplasty is performed.

The initial consultation

At JUVENIS, we not only want to provide you with the best medical care, but also ensure that you feel well advised and informed. For this reason, a detailed consultation takes place before the actual tummy tuck treatment.

Our aesthetic surgeons will take your individual wishes and aesthetic problems into account. They will discuss your expectations and ideas with you and show you both the possibilities and limitations of abdominoplasty.

Depending on the extent of the abdominal sagging, different measures are required. Not only should the muscles be strengthened through appropriate exercises. Removing the incorrectly stored fatty tissue also helps the shape immensely. The solutions are individually tailored to each person. The results are therefore particularly pleasing.

A personalized treatment plan will be drawn up for you. The costs incurred by you will also be discussed.

All your questions will be answered in detail. Only when you have made a decision in peace will we arrange a treatment appointment with you.

Before the tummy tuck

As the operation is performed under general anesthesia, an internal surgical release is required as standard.

No anticoagulant medication, such as aspirin, should be taken 10 days before the procedure.

We will be happy to help you find a suitable abdominal girdle for the weeks following the operation.

The operation

To smooth out a sagging abdomen, abdominoplasty involves removing fatty tissue and excess skin and tightening the sagging abdominal muscles. The operation is carried out in such a way that the navel is left in its position; only the skin is tightened downwards like a culotte. The wound is then closed in layers of sutures. A transverse scar is created above the mons pubis. Finally, a compression bandage is applied.

The classic tummy tuck is a complex and extensive procedure that our plastic surgeons perform under general anesthesia in a cooperating hospital.

The hospital stay depends on the healing process and lasts an average of 3-5 days if there are no complications.

After the operation

After 1 to 2 days, the compression bandage can be replaced by a special abdominal girdle, which should be worn day and night for a further 6 weeks.

For the first 4 to 6 weeks after the operation, it is necessary to sleep on your back or side and avoid lying on your stomach.

Sport should be avoided for 6-8 weeks after the operation.

FAQs

Abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure designed to tighten the abdominal skin and remove excess tissue. It is particularly suitable following pregnancy, significant weight loss, or in cases of sagging connective tissue.

Abdominoplasty is recommended if:

  • there is excess skin on the abdomen

  • the skin has become very loose

  • the tissue does not shrink despite exercise and diet

  • if there is abdominal wall laxity or rectus diastasis

Suitability is determined on an individual basis during a consultation.

In a mini-tummy tuck, only the lower abdomen is tightened.
In a full tummy tuck, the entire abdominal region is treated, often including repositioning of the navel and tightening of the abdominal muscles.

Abdominoplasty is usually performed under general anesthesia. During the procedure, excess skin is removed and the abdominal wall is tightened. Depending on the extent of the procedure, it can take several hours.

The initial recovery period usually lasts 1 to 2 weeks, but physical rest is necessary for several weeks. A special compression garment supports the healing process.

The initial results are visible immediately after the surgery. The final results become apparent after a few months, once the swelling has completely subsided and the tissue has stabilized.

Yes, scars will form, but they are positioned in such a way that they can usually be easily concealed by underwear. Over time, the scars will fade significantly.

As with any surgical procedure, risks such as swelling, bruising, infection, or wound healing complications may occur. Careful planning and follow-up care help minimize these risks.

After the procedure, you should:

  • Avoid physical exertion

  • wear a compression garment

  • Follow the doctor's post-treatment instructions carefully

This promotes optimal healing and a beautiful result.

The cost of a tummy tuck depends on the extent of the procedure (minor or major) as well as the individual circumstances. Prices start at €6,000.

You will receive the exact prices during a personal consultation, during which a customized treatment and cost plan will be drawn up.

In most cases, this is a cosmetic procedure, which is why the costs are generally not covered by health insurance. In individual cases where there is a medical justification, partial coverage may be possible.

At JUVENIS, surgical procedures are performed by experienced specialists in plastic and aesthetic surgery. Through modern surgical techniques, precise planning, and comprehensive post-operative care, we strive to ensure a safe procedure and a natural-looking result.

Here, we’ve answered the most common questions about tummy tucks. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us at empfang@juvenismed.at or by phone at +43 1 236 3020.

Risks & side effects

Complications can occur even after a surgical procedure performed with the utmost care and caution.

In addition to the possible complications after general anesthesia, the most common complications after abdominoplasty include the possibility of post-operative bleeding and wound healing disorders. All possible complications are explained in detail during the consultation.
