Treatment procedure
The planned surgery will be discussed during a consultation. You will be informed about the surgical procedure, and an appointment will be scheduled. You will receive an informed consent form. Please read it carefully, fill it out, and sign it if you agree. Should anything be unclear, please do not hesitate to ask us.
In case you are taking blood-thinning medication, we ask you, after consultation with your general practitioner/internist, to discontinue it 1 week before the surgery or replace it with suitable alternative medication. The blood-thinning medication can then be resumed 1-2 weeks after the procedure.

Please eat breakfast and drink on the day of the surgery before coming to our clinic. At the beginning of the surgery, the area where the skin lesion to be removed is located will be locally anesthetized. The subsequent surgery will therefore be painless for you. During the procedure, you can speak with the surgeon and the nurse. The procedure is performed according to the latest plastic surgical techniques. For wound closure, we often use absorbable suture material that remains in the skin and dissolves after a few weeks to months. This suture material does not need to be removed. However, you will feel a hardening under the scar for a few months. In addition, special plasters are applied for better wound healing. In some cases, the wound is also closed with sutures on the skin surface. These are then removed 6-14 days after the surgery, depending on their location.
Immediately after the surgery, you can go home or to work. Please take care of the operated skin area and protect it from mechanical stress and from getting "wet". The local anesthesia will wear off after a few hours. You may feel slight wound pain afterwards. Taking a painkiller (e.g., mefenamic acid tablets, paracetamol tablets, or ibuprofen tablets) will only be necessary in exceptional cases. Please do not take aspirin.
