Upper eyelid lift in Vienna
An upper eyelid lift corrects sagging upper eyelids (hooded or drooping eyelids). These can be either genetically determined or develop through natural aging. Pronounced hooded eyelids often constitute not only a cosmetic problem but can, in extreme cases, considerably restrict the field of vision.

How is an eyelid correction at JUVENIS carried out?
The surgical procedure is usually performed on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia. On average, the operation takes about one hour.
Several surgical techniques with different incision approaches depending on the initial situation are possible: the incisions are made in the natural crease of the upper eyelid; depending on the amount of excess skin, the incisions in the lower eyelid area can be made from the "outside" (just below the lash line) or from the "inside" (conjunctiva of the lower eyelid).
The latter method is only possible if your problem consists solely of small fat pads under the eyes and no excess skin needs to be removed. This method leaves no visible scars.
In tightening of the lower eyelid skin, the excess skin is removed and the underlying fat pad is repositioned. The muscle can also be tightened and repositioned. The wound edges are closed with very fine sutures. In almost all cases the scars are hardly visible.

Which measures are important after eyelid tightening?
Thanks to the particularly gentle surgical technique used by our plastic surgeons, the risks are kept as low as possible. After the procedure, cooling the treated area is particularly important. This should be done regularly in the first days after the operation. You should avoid direct sun or heat for the first 10 days (wear sunglasses). Heavy lifting is not allowed for about 14 days after the operation. Furthermore, any physical overexertion and mechanical stress such as rubbing the eyes, wearing contact lenses, or applying makeup should be avoided. When bending over, you should bend your knees rather than bend at the waist. Sutures are removed after 4 to 7 days. Mild swelling around the eyes may occur. This subsides within 7 to 14 days at the latest. With lower eyelid surgery, the swelling may last somewhat longer, up to a maximum of six weeks, but it decreases significantly from week to week.

FAQs
Eyelid lift (blepharoplasty) is a surgical procedure to correction of sagging skin, hooded eyelids, or eye bags. The goal is a a fresher, more awake-looking eye area and a rejuvenated overall appearance.
An eyelid lift is suitable for patients who:
have hooded eyelids or drooping upper eyelids
suffer from under-eye bags or excess skin on the lower eyelid
appear tired or worn out
wish for an improvement in vision (with pronounced drooping eyelids)
Suitability is determined individually during the consultation.
In the case of Upper eyelid lift excess skin on the upper eyelid is removed.
In the case of Lower eyelid lift under-eye bags are reduced and the skin under the eyes is tightened. Both procedures can also be combined.
The operation is usually performed under local anesthesia, or under twilight sleep upon request. Excess skin and, if necessary, fatty tissue are removed and the eyelids are reshaped. The procedure usually lasts 45 to 90 minutes.
During the operation, you will not feel any pain due to the anesthesia. After the procedure, there may be slight tightness or swelling occur, which are easily treatable.
The initial recovery phase lasts about 7 to 10 days. During this time swelling or bruising may occur. After about two weeks you are usually able to resume social activities. With lower eyelid surgery the swelling can also last up to a maximum of 6 weeks.
An initial effect is visible once the swelling has subsided. The final result is visible after a few weeks to months, when healing is completely finished is.
The incisions are made in such a way that they lie in the natural skin folds. As a result, the scars are usually barely visible and fade significantly over time.
As with any surgical procedure, risks such as Swelling, bruising, infections or temporary irritation of the eyesmay occur. With careful technique and aftercare, these are minimized.
The result usually lasts many years. The natural aging process continues, but at a rejuvenated level.
