Kinesiotaping at JUVENIS in Vienna

The skin is the body's largest sensory organ. Stretching of the skin, for example due to swelling or scarring, leads to weakening of the associated muscle and disruption of the receptors. This is where kinesiotaping can help. Kinesio tape is an elastic adhesive tape that is applied directly to the skin. It has a mechanical and sensory effect on the skin and activates the nerve fibers. At JUVENIS in Vienna, kinesio taping is performed by Dr. Peter Guglia, for whom your well-being and health are the top priority.

Treatments & therapies

How does kinesiotape work?

Kinesiotape influences muscle function by increasing muscle strength. Microcirculation is improved and lymphatic drainage is activated. This reduces pain and supports joint function at the same time. The effectiveness of the tape depends on the respective application technique.

There are four basic techniques:

  1. Muscle technique: improvement of convolution, fluid transport, relief of the receptors
  2. Ligament technique: stabilization, space effect (spatialization)
  3. Fascia and correction technique: postoperative, for dysfunctions in the fascia tissue
  4. Lymphatic technique: increases blood and lymph circulation, reduces swelling and treats hematomas

FAQs

Kinesiotaping is a therapeutic treatment method in which special elastic tapes are applied to the skin. These so-called Kinesio Tapes support muscles, joints, and the lymphatic system without restricting mobility. The method is frequently used to treat pain, muscle tension, and sports-related injuries.

The elastic tape gently lifts the skin, thereby improving blood circulation and lymphatic flow in the tissue. At the same time, it stabilizes and relieves pressure on muscles and joints. This can help reduce pain and support the healing of injuries.

Kinesiotaping is often used for:

  • Muscle tension

  • Back and neck pain

  • Joint pain

  • Sports injuries

  • Tendon irritation

  • Strain-related pain

  • Swelling or lymphatic congestion

The treatment will be tailored to your specific symptoms.

First, we’ll conduct a brief examination to assess the cause of your symptoms. Then, we’ll apply the Kinesio Tapes directly to specific muscles or joints. The treatment usually takes only a few minutes, and you can resume your daily activities right away.

No. The tape is simply applied to the skin and usually does not cause any pain. Many patients actually find the tape to be pleasantly supportive.

Kinesio tape can usually stay on the skin for 3 to 7 days. It is waterproof, so you can shower or exercise while wearing it.

Kinesiotaping is a very gentle treatment. In rare cases, it may cause mild skin irritation or itching in people with sensitive skin. If this occurs, the tape should be removed.

Yes. Kinesiotaping is often used in sports because it does not restrict movement but rather supports and stabilizes muscles and joints.

The cost of a Kinesio taping treatment starts at approximately €35 per session. The exact price depends on the scope of treatment and the amount of tape used.

In most cases, this is a private service that is not covered by health insurance. You will receive an invoice for private reimbursement.

At JUVENIS, you will be treated by our experienced orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Peter Guglia, who will tailor the taping to your specific symptoms. Through precise application techniques and an accurate diagnosis, pain can be effectively reduced and the healing process supported.
