Examination and treatment of obesity

Excessive accumulation of fatty tissue in the body is known as obesity. It occurs when energy intake, primarily through a high-fat diet, permanently exceeds energy consumption. Untreated obesity can lead to secondary diseases and reduce life expectancy. The JUVENIS Medical Center in Vienna therefore offers examinations and treatment for overweight and obesity.

Examination and treatment of overweight and obesity (adiposity)

The body mass index (BMI) serves as a measure of overweight. If the BMI is between 25 and 30 kg/m², the person is already overweight. If the value is higher than 30 kg/m², we speak of obesity. There are several triggers for this:

  • Low-fiber, high-fat and carbohydrate-rich (overeating) diet

  • Lack of exercise

  • Mental stress (stress, depression)

  • genetic disposition

  • Disease-related (hypothyroidism, Cushing's syndrome, brain tumors)

Please contact JUVENIS by phone at +43 1 236 3020by e-mail to empfang@juvenismed.at or via the contact formto make an appointment for a consultation or treatment.

Genetic disposition alone does not cause obesity. It is usually a combination of disposition and lifestyle habits that lead to a positive energy balance and ultimately to obesity.
