Rhinoplasty in Vienna

Nasal correction at JUVENIS

The nose is a central feature of the face and is particularly noticeable. A congenital deformity or one resulting from an injury can greatly affect quality of life both through impaired breathing and through reduced self-confidence. A successful operation can put an end to both the physical and psychological distress.

A harmonious appearance of facial proportions essentially depends on the shape and length of the nose. Through a nasal correction a visible nasal hump can be removed, the nose can be shortened or lengthened, and the shape of the nasal tip and the nostrils can be changed.

FAQs

Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure for changing the shape of the nose and/or improving nasal function. The goal is a harmonious appearance of the nose in line with your facial features as well as – if necessary – improved breathing.

A nose correction is suitable for patients who:

  • are dissatisfied with the shape or size of their nose

  • wish to correct a nasal deformity or asymmetry

  • have functional problems such as restricted nasal breathing

  • desire more harmonious facial proportions

Suitability is assessed individually during the consultation.

As part of a nose correction, among other things:

  • the nasal hump can be reduced

  • the nasal tip can be lifted or shaped

  • the nasal width can be adjusted

  • asymmetries can be balanced

  • Corrections of the nasal wings

  • functional problems of the nasal septum can be corrected

The operation is usually performed under general anesthesia. Depending on the case, an open or closed technique is used. The procedure usually takes 1 to 3 hours.

You will not feel any pain during the operation. After the procedure, there may be swelling, a feeling of tension, or mild pain occur, which are easily treatable.

The initial recovery phase lasts about 1 to 2 weeks. Swelling may remain visible for 1 to 2 weeks. A physical rest period of 6 weeks is absolutely necessary.

An initial effect is visible after removal of the splint. However, the final result only appears after several months to a year, as the nose slowly takes its final shape.

With the closed technique, no visible scars are produced. With the open technique, a small, usually barely visible scar on the underside of the nose remain.

As with any surgical procedure, risks such as swelling, bruising, infections, or wound healing disorders occur. In rare cases, a revision may be necessary.
