Natural results with Polydioxanone PDO thread lifting

Polydioxanone PDO thread lifting in Vienna

The Polydioxanon PDO thread lift is an innovation in the smoothing of fine wrinkles such as lower eyelid and upper lip wrinkles, as well as in the lifting of various areas of the face and body such as sagging cheeks, eyebrows or a slight double chin. The smoothing of the skin, e.g. in the cheek area, can be significantly improved by the simultaneous application of platelet-rich plasma (PRP).

PDO stands for polydioxanone, a material that has been used worldwide as a surgical suture for decades. Today, it is mainly used to tighten and smooth the skin - by stimulating collagen formation. Due to its decades of use, it is highly tolerated.

Depending on the thickness, twists, hooks and length of the threads, an individual mix of these threads can be selected for each face in order to form a net within the skin, so to speak, which smoothes the skin, or to push the skin together at the threads and thus lift and lift the skin against gravity.

Treatment procedure

The Polydioxanon PDO thread lift treatment is extremely simple: after a barely noticeable prick, the threads are inserted into the skin with a cannula, the cannula is then removed and the thread remains in the skin. If treatment is carried out in combination with platelet-rich plasma, the cannula is also used to introduce the enriched plasma and is only removed afterwards. Results are visible immediately and are improved over time by the formation of new tissue.

The threads will dissolve in the near future. This depends, among other things, on the thickness of the threads. This means that the shelf life is individual and varies depending on the thread. It varies between 6 and 9 months or between 12 and 15 months, after which a refresher is recommended. Generally speaking, the more threads, the better and more durable the result.

Treatment with PDO threads can be combined with a plasma lift.

FAQs

The PDO thread lift is a minimally invasive method for skin tightening and rejuvenation that does not require surgery. During the procedure, special, absorbable threads made of polydioxanone (PDO) are inserted into the skin. These threads stabilize the tissue while stimulating the body’s own collagen production.

The threads create a gentle mechanical lifting effect and also stimulate the skin to produce new collagen. This improves the skin’s texture, making it appear firmer, smoother, and tighter.

The treatment is suitable for women and men with mild to moderate skin laxity who are looking for a non-surgical skin tightening procedure. The procedure is particularly common for:

  • sagging cheeks

  • fine lines and wrinkles

  • mild sagging of the skin on the face

  • sagging skin on the neck

  • decreasing skin elasticity

PDO threads can be used for, among other things:

  • Face and cheeks

  • Jawline

  • Neck

  • Eyebrow Lift

  • fine lines on the face

The treatment is tailored to your individual needs.

After a detailed consultation, the skin is numbed with a local anesthetic. The PDO threads are then inserted under the skin using fine needles or cannulas. The procedure usually takes 30 to 45 minutes.

Thanks to the local anesthetic, the procedure is usually well tolerated. During the procedure, you may feel a slight sensation of pressure or tightness.

A slight tightening effect is often visible immediately after the treatment. The final result develops over several weeks as collagen production is stimulated.

The PDO threads dissolve completely within about 6 to 12 months. However, the skin often remains firmer for longer, as the newly formed collagen improves the skin’s structure.

After the treatment, you may experience temporary swelling, redness, or small bruises. These usually disappear within a few days.

During the first few days, you should avoid making strong facial expressions, engaging in intense physical activity, or using a sauna or tanning bed. Your doctor will provide you with further personalized recommendations.

The cost depends on the number of threads used and the area being treated.
Prices start at approximately €490 per treatment.

During a personal consultation, you will receive a personalized treatment and cost plan.

As this is a cosmetic treatment, the costs are not usually covered by health insurance companies.

At JUVENIS, thread lift treatments are performed exclusively by experienced aesthetic medicine physicians. Using precise techniques, high-quality materials, and personalized treatment plans, we achieve natural and harmonious results that visibly tighten and rejuvenate your skin.
