Skin rejuvenation with IPL: treatment of couperose, pigment spots & age spots

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) treatment is a modern, non-invasive method for improving skin texture. It uses targeted light pulses to reduce pigmentation spots, redness, and fine vascular changes. At the same time, it stimulates collagen production, making the skin appear smoother and fresher.

After cleansing the skin, a special gel is applied. Short pulses of light are then emitted using the IPL handpiece. Depending on the area, the treatment usually takes 20 to 30 minutes and is performed on an outpatient basis.

IPL treatment is generally well tolerated. During the light pulses, you may feel a brief sensation of warmth or a slight snap on the skin. Anesthesia is not usually necessary.

After treatment, the skin may be slightly reddened, similar to mild sunburn. This redness usually subsides within a few hours or days. Pigment spots may temporarily darken slightly before fading after a few days.

Many patients notice a visible improvement in their skin's appearance after just one session. For optimal results, several treatments at intervals of a few weeks are usually recommended.

As a rule, 3 to 5 treatments are recommended to achieve an even and long-lasting result. The exact number depends on the condition of the skin and the desired result.

After IPL treatment, consistent sun protection with SPF 50 is particularly important. Intense sun exposure, solariums, and saunas should be avoided for a few days.

Occasionally, slight redness or minimal swelling may occur. These usually subside quickly. When performed professionally, IPL treatment is considered very safe.
