Effective treatment at JUVENIS in Vienna
Headache and migraine treatment with Botox®
At the JUVENIS medical center, Botox® is not only used to treat excessive sweating, bruxism (unconscious grinding of the teeth, usually at night) and mimic wrinkles, but also to treat headaches and migraines by experienced specialists.
The term migraine comes from the French (migraine) and means: headache. It is a severe, pulsating headache that occurs in attacks and can often be preceded by symptoms such as visual disturbances (colored flashes or loss of visual field), nausea and vomiting, sensitivity to light, tingling and/or weakness in an arm or leg or speech disorders. They are usually limited to one side of the head. Botox® therapy can often significantly improve these symptoms, which usually have a severe impact on everyday life.
In therapy, a distinction is made between migraine attack therapy and migraine prophylaxis, i.e. preventative treatment in the disease-free interval. Botox® is successfully used for migraine prophylaxis (approved in Europe since 2011).

Botox®, known from aesthetic medicine, has also proven to be an effective treatment method for chronic migraines. With regular injections into specific muscle areas in the head and neck, Botox® blocks the pain signals before they reach the central nervous system.
This therapy is particularly suitable for patients who suffer from more than 15 migraine days per month. Studies show that Botox® not only reduces the frequency of migraine attacks, but also significantly improves the quality of life of those affected.

FAQs
Our experienced doctors inject Botox at several precise points in the forehead, temples and neck area - depending on the individual symptoms. The treatment takes around 10-15 minutes and requires no downtime.
Botox blocks certain nerve signals and thus prevents the excessive tension in the muscles that can trigger or intensify migraine attacks. Botox also inhibits the release of pain messengers in the nervous system. The result is a significant reduction in the frequency, intensity and duration of migraine attacks.
The treatment is suitable for patients with chronic migraines (at least 15 headache days per month, 8 of which with migraine symptoms). Botox can also be an effective option for frequent tension headaches or treatment-resistant migraines.
The injections are very well tolerated. Extremely fine needles are used so that only a slight prick is felt. Most patients find the treatment uncomplicated and quick.
The first improvements are usually seen within 7-14 days. The full effect unfolds after about 3-4 weeks. Many patients report significantly fewer headache days and noticeable relief in everyday life.
The effect lasts for about 3 months, sometimes longer. Regular repetition leads to a stable, long-term reduction in migraine attacks.
Botox is considered to be very well researched and safe. Possible side effects are slight puncture pain, a feeling of tension or small hematomas at the injection sites. Temporary muscle weakness can occur very rarely. These effects usually disappear quickly.
For many patients, Botox can reduce or supplement the intake of other medication. The doctor will decide whether a complete replacement is appropriate after an individual assessment.
The costs depend on the amount of active ingredient required and the regions to be treated:
From approx. € 380 per treatment
After an individual examination, you will receive an exact cost estimate.
As a rule, Austrian health insurance companies do not cover the costs, as the treatment is usually listed as a private service. You will receive a fee note for private billing.
