Dark circles/eye wrinkles/eye bags

Various causes can underlie the formation of dark circles. Most often, hereditary volume loss is responsible for the unattractive shadows, but discolorations (brown pigment and red blood vessels) can also make the lower eyelid appear dark.

Fillers against dark circles
Dark circles are therefore a complex issue that can, and often must, be addressed successfully with different methods:

PDO thread lifting
The Polydioxanone (PDO) thread lifting is an innovation for lower eyelids prone to swelling (under-eye bags), for smoothing fine lines such as lower eyelid wrinkles and also for early dark circles.
Laser and peeling
A further brightening of discoloration in the eye area can additionally be achieved with various laser treatments or peeling technologies achieved. These also lead to an overall tightening of the lower eyelid area.

Hyaluronic acid treatment procedure
How are dark circles, under-eye fine lines and under-eye bags treated with hyaluronic acid?
30 minutes before the treatment, a numbing cream is applied to the eye area.
We use a new, longer-lasting hyaluronic acid variant specifically developed for the eye area. Because the ampoule already contains a local anesthetic, the treatment is perceived as barely noticeable even in particularly sensitive facial areas. With ultra-fine needles, the hyaluronic acid is introduced into the relevant region.
Before and after the treatment there are a few points to observe.
PDO thread lifting treatment procedure
How are dark circles, under-eye fine lines and under-eye bags treated with PDO threads?
30 min. before the treatment a numbing cream is applied.
With ultra-thin cannulas the threads are gently introduced into the tissue, which is not felt due to the local anesthesia. By interweaving the PDO threads in a grid-like pattern, under-eye bags can be noticeably tightened. Fine lines are smoothed and early dark circles are gently corrected.
PDO stands for polydioxanone – a material that has been used worldwide for decades as surgical suture material. Today it is also used to tighten and smooth the skin by stimulating new collagen formation. Its decades of use prove the material's high tolerability.

Peeling treatment procedure
Peels are very regenerative for the skin. They remove the upper layers of the skin and stimulate collagen production in deeper skin layers. Because of these properties they can reduce fine lines, even out pigment irregularities, refine pores, heal inflammations and improve skin impurities.
At least 4 weeks before the first peeling treatment, a pigment-stabilizing cream therapy should be started. Multiple treatments are generally advisable, with each treatment producing a visible improvement.
The skin begins to peel after approx. 2–3 days. This lasts about 3–5 days. It is especially important that after the peels you strictly avoid the sun and use sun protection products.

Treatment procedure IPL

The specially generated light gives your skin a brighter appearance. Pigment spots, visible blood vessels and redness are gently reduced and the skin structure improves. We recommend an intensive course of 2 to 5 treatments at intervals of 3 to 4 weeks and then an annual refresher treatment.

FAQs
Dark circles and eye bags can arise from various factors, including genetic predisposition, skin aging, loss of volume, thin skin, pigmentation disorders, stress or lack of sleep. Water retention or poor circulation can also play a role.
Depending on the cause, different methods are used, for example:

In cases of volume loss, hyaluronic acid is specifically injected into the tear trough. This lifts the skin, reduces shadows, and the eye area appears fresher and more awake.
Mild to moderate eye bags can often non-surgical be improved, for example with fillers, skin tightening, or regenerative treatments. In pronounced cases, however, surgical intervention may be necessary.
After a detailed consultation, the appropriate method is chosen. The treatment is performed on an outpatient basis and usually takes, depending on the procedure, 20 to 45 minutes.
Most treatments are well tolerated. With injections, a slight stinging may be felt. On request, a numbing cream be used.
