Ultrasound examination of the veins at JUVENIS

The JUVENIS medical team gets to the bottom of the causes of spider veins and varicose veins as well as the symptoms and helps to find the right treatment. During the examination, the different types of varicose veins are identified and their severity and distribution patterns are assessed. An individual treatment plan is drawn up based on this examination.

Removing reticular varicose veins & side branch varicose veins and sclerosing spider veins (foam sclerotherapy)

Sclerotherapy or foam sclerotherapy is the ideal treatment for slightly larger spider veins, reticular varicose veins and side branch varicose veins. In order to be able to proceed precisely, the varicose veins are visualized using magnifying glasses during vein sclerotherapy. The sclerosing agent is then injected. When sclerosing varicose veins or spider veins, an alcohol-like substance is injected into the veins to be treated, which triggers an inflammatory reaction in the vessel walls, causing them to stick together and dissolve and become invisible over time.

Treatments & therapies

Vein sclerotherapy with endoluminal laser therapy

Endoluminal laser treatment for vein sclerotherapy is also effective in many cases of venous disorders of the large leg veins (truncal varicosis of the large leading veins): this is a procedure in which the affected vein is sclerosed or closed using a laser. The treated vein remains in the body and breaks down in the months following the treatment. The varicose vein magically disappears, so to speak. Side branch varicose veins are typically sclerosed with athoxysclerol foam in the same session to optimize the result.

Removing spider veins with laser

At JUVENIS, suitable spider veins are sclerosed by Prof. Dr. Tamara Kopp plus assistance using modern laser therapy. The Nd:YAG laser emits infrared heat energy into the vessel walls and the blood. This causes the vessel walls to heat up and contract. Result: The red lines lighten and continue to become lighter for weeks after the treatment - without the skin being touched by a scalpel.

FAQs

Varicose veins are permanently dilated, twisted veins that most commonly occur on the legs. They are caused by weakness in the vein walls or valves, which prevents blood from flowing back to the heart properly.

Spider veins are small, superficial dilated blood vessels that appear reddish or bluish through the skin. They are usually considered a cosmetic issue, but they can also be a sign of venous insufficiency.

Common symptoms include:

  • heavy or tired legs

  • Tightness

  • Swelling

  • Pain or cramps

  • visible, dilated veins

Common causes and risk factors include:

  • genetic predisposition

  • standing or sitting for long periods

  • Pregnancy

  • Lack of exercise

  • hormonal influences

  • advancing age

The diagnostic process usually includes:

  • detailed medical history

This allows for an accurate assessment of the veins' function and condition.

Depending on the findings, the following may be used:

  • Sclerotherapy

  • Laser treatments

  • modern vein treatments

  • Compression therapy

  • surgical or minimally invasive procedures

Most modern treatments are well tolerated and cause only minimal discomfort. Depending on the method, you may experience a slight burning sensation or feeling of pressure.

The first improvements are often visible after just a few weeks. The final result develops gradually, depending on the method chosen.

No. Untreated varicose veins can lead to discomfort or complications such as inflammation or circulation problems over time.

The cost depends on the scope of the examination and the treatment chosen.

An initial vein examination (depending on the specific tests required) costs between €290 and €350.

  • Foam sclerotherapy for varicose veins, spider veins, and capillaries on the entire leg (including 2 follow-up visits) starts at €1,380.

  • Laser therapy for the small saphenous vein (parva) in one leg (including 2 follow-up visits) starts at €2,650.
