Treatment procedure

During couperose treatment with IPL, short pulses of light are emitted from a flash lamp, which then penetrate the skin. The light is directed into the blood vessels to be treated. Blood contains hemoglobin. This absorbs the light and converts it into heat. The resulting heat destroys the small veins and they gradually disappear safely.

Depending on the size of the affected area, the treatment of couperose (acne rosacea I°) with IPL usually takes between 15 and 45 minutes. Slight swelling or redness may occur during and after the treatment, which usually disappears within a few days. To adequately protect the treated and very sensitive skin, sun protection of 50+ is essential.

We recommend an intensive treatment with 2 to 5 treatments at intervals of 3 to 4 weeks and then an annual refresher treatment.

Before the IPL treatment, the skin is thoroughly cleansed and any make-up or other products are removed. Caution: The skin must not be tanned before the treatment. Protective goggles are worn during the laser treatment to protect the eyes from the intense light.

IPL treatment uses a handpiece that emits the IPL light. The handpiece is gently guided over the skin and the light pulses are directed at the affected areas. The light pulses can be felt as a slight tingling or prickling sensation. The settings are naturally adjusted to the patient's individual needs in order to achieve optimal results.

Slight swelling or redness that may occur during IPL treatment usually subsides after a few days.

At JUVENIS, a soothing cream and sunscreen are applied after the IPL treatment. Finally, you will be given instructions on how to care for your skin, such as applying a soothing cream and avoiding sun exposure.

FAQs

Couperose is a vasodilatation of the fine blood vessels in the face - especially on the cheeks, nose and chin. The skin appears permanently reddened, often accompanied by visible veins. If left untreated, it can develop into rosacea, a chronic skin disease with inflammatory changes.

The causes are often a genetic predisposition, sensitive skin, excessive UV radiation, temperature fluctuations, alcohol, spicy foods or stress. Hormonal influences can also play a role.

At JUVENIS, couperose is treated gently using the latest laser technology(Laser Nordlys by Candela). The laser specifically heats the dilated blood vessels so that they close and are broken down by the body - the skin appears smoother and calmer again.

Most patients find the treatment hardly painful. A slight feeling of warmth or a brief prick may occur. If desired, an anesthetic cream can be applied before the treatment.

Depending on the severity, 2 to 4 treatments at intervals of several weeks are usually required to achieve an optimal result. Our doctors will advise you individually.

After the treatment, redness and visible veins are usually significantly reduced. The skin appears calmer, fresher and more even. Initial improvements are often visible after the first session.

After the laser treatment, you should avoid direct sunlight and going to the sauna for about 1-2 weeks. Use a sunscreen with a high sun protection factor (SPF 50+) every day to optimally protect the skin.

Occasionally, redness or slight swelling may occur, which will subside after a short time. The treatment is safe and is only carried out by experienced doctors.

The costs depend on the area treated and the extent of the treatment.

The first appointment costs € 190, an IPL couperose treatment for the whole face costs € 290 and an IPL couperose treatment for part of the face (e.g. nose only, or cheeks only, or chin only) costs € 200 to € 250. Other regions cost an additional € 50 to € 150.

An exact cost estimate will be provided during the consultation.

As this is an aesthetic treatment, the costs are not usually covered by health insurance. You will receive a detailed fee note for private billing.

At JUVENIS, you benefit from a combination of medical expertise, state-of-the-art laser technology and personalized care. Our experienced doctors specialize in vascular and skin changes and take the time to analyse your skin in detail.
