Many people regularly suffer from migraine attacks that severely affect their everyday lives. If conventional therapies do not provide sufficient relief, Botox® (botulinum toxin type A) can be an effective alternative.

In our new video you can see how treatment with Botox for migraines works, what the patient's experiences were, how long the results lasted and whether she is satisfied with the treatment.

Dr. Tamara Kopp, specialist in dermatology and aesthetic medicine at JUVENIS, performs this treatment on the patient.

How does Botox work against migraines?

Botulinum toxin specifically blocks the transmission of pain signals to nerve endings. This relaxes certain muscle areas, which significantly reduces the frequency and intensity of migraine attacks in many patients.

Treatment procedure

The treatment is carried out on an outpatient basis in our practice in Vienna. Small amounts of Botox are injected at several points in the head and neck area. The effect usually sets in after a few days and usually lasts for around three months.

Who is the treatment suitable for?

Botox is primarily recommended for chronic migraines - i.e. more than 15 headache days per month. After a detailed medical examination, an individual decision can be made as to whether this form of therapy is suitable.
