Is it contagious? This is probably one of the first questions many people ask when they meet someone with an unfamiliar skin disease. In most cases, however, this fear of infection is completely unfounded. In order to educate as many people as possible about chronic diseases of our largest organ, Dr. Christine Bangert (JUVENIS Surgery) took part in an unusual project: In an informative video series by "Schüler für Schüler", the dermatologist explains interesting facts about chronic skin diseases in an age-appropriate way.

Knowledge transfer from pupils for pupils

The online platform Schüler für Schüler is a project that aims to educate young people about chronic illnesses. The aim is to improve the coexistence of the entire school community through mutual understanding. In a series of short, easy-to-understand videos, Pupils for Pupils provides an insight into the everyday lives of young people living with a chronic illness.

It starts with short films on the topics of diabetes and hemophilia, the so-called bleeding disorder. The film team accompanies those affected in the videos. They describe the impact these chronic illnesses have on their lives and how they would like their environment to deal with them.

Focus videos on the skin

In a major focus on the topic of skin, the dedicated students of the project asked Dr. Christine Bangert from JUVENIS to appear on camera as an expert on the various chronic skin diseases. After those affected have presented their lives with the disease, skin specialist Dr. Bangert explains interesting medical facts to the young viewers.

In the individual videos, those affected talk about acne, rosacea, nevus spilus, vitiligo, neurodermatitis and port-wine stains. Dr. Bangert then adds information about the course of the disease, its development and treatment. The videos on the individual skin diseases will be published gradually over the next few weeks on the skin focus page by pupils for pupils.
