A hemangioma (blood sponge) consists of many narrow blood vessels and can range in size from a few millimetres to a few centimetres. Hemangiomas are preferably found in the skin and on the lips. They are very harmless, small, red skin tumors.

There is a simple method for removing hemangiomas: neodymium Nd:YAG laser therapy. The vessel is specifically treated with a punctual laser (Nd:YAG).
