Skin cancer screening: What does melanoma look like?

Almost everyone has birthmarks. In the course of our lives, new ones can form or changes can occur. Only experienced dermatologists can diagnose whether these are harmless moles. This is why it is so important to have regular birthmark checks - skin cancer screening by a specialist.

We show you an example of how inconspicuous and small a melanoma can be. Figure 1 shows a melanoma detected early by dermatologist Dr. Tamara Kopp (see arrow). The suspicion was confirmed histologically after removal.
