Psoriasis is a non-infectious inflammatory skin disease in which the body's own tissue is attacked by the immune system. A team led by Prof. Dr. Tamara Kopp from MedUni Vienna has successfully used antibodies to combat the symptoms of psoriasis in a clinical trial.

Antibodies against psoriasis

As reported by Supermed.at, dermatologist Prof. Tamara Kopp from the JUVENIS beauty center in Vienna was able to show in a new study that the targeted blocking of a messenger substance in the immune system (interleukin-23/IL-23) significantly improves the symptoms of psoriasis.

A total of 77 patients (with moderate to severe symptoms of psoriasis) were injected with different amounts of the antibody "Tildrakizumab" or a placebo preparation in a study. The skin of the patients treated with high doses was up to 100 percent free of the symptoms of psoriasis.

The phase II study has already been successfully completed and is currently in the clinical phase III study. The dose has already been determined and it is no longer administered intravenously, but only under the skin (subcutaneously). The study is now in the final stage before possible approval.
