Beauty - Food: Time and again, fashion magazines or fitness magazines claim that certain foods can be responsible for a more beautiful appearance, firmer skin or even fewer wrinkles. But is this true? Dr. Daniela Themmer, a general practitioner specializing in nutritional medicine, from JUVENIS provides information on this new trend.
Nutrition tips for beauty at JUVENIS
In an interview with help.ORF.at, Dr. Daniela Themmer explains what beauty food is all about. The doctor warns against exaggerated expectations. What is important is the overall diet: the more colorful the better. This means lots of fruit and vegetables, as well as proteins, carbohydrates and the right fats. The prerequisite here is that you are healthy and have no hormonal disorders. One-sided diets are definitely bad for the skin.
However, there are foods that really do have a positive effect on your appearance. Blueberries, for example, are rightly regarded as a wrinkle killer and anti-ageing agent and should be included in your daily diet. However, expectations should not be set too high - the skin is not plumped up by the berries. Other foods also support the skin: pineapple and nuts provide elasticity and ginger inhibits inflammation.
Finally, Dr. Daniela Themmer reveals the secret to looking good: get some fresh air once a day, eat fruit and vegetables regularly (preferably seasonal), apply sunscreen, give up smoking, and get enough sleep. Water is also very important—it's best to drink 2 liters a day.
