High burden of suffering among patients with psoriasis

Psoriasis patients suffer greatly from the symptoms. In addition to the high psychological burden, this chronic inflammatory disease usually affects more than just the skin. It also represents an increased risk for cardiovascular disease, metabolic disorders and obesity. In about one in four patients psoriatic arthritis occurs, an inflammatory joint disease that causes swelling and pain. It is not uncommon for those affected to also develop depression.

At the beginning of 2016, the WHO went public with a report on Psoriasis to highlight the high level of suffering of those affected.
