Stubborn warts successfully removed – Nd:YAG laser proves effective

Warts can be very stubborn and persist even after several treatments. At our JUVENIS practice, Dr. Tamara Kopp recently successfully treated a particularly impressive case: despite eight cryotherapy treatments (freezing), the wart remained. Only through targeted treatment with the Nd:YAG laser was the problem finally completely resolved.

When traditional wart treatments are not enough

Warts are caused by human papillomaviruses (HPV) and can become deeply embedded in the skin. Cryotherapy, i.e., freezing the wart with liquid nitrogen, is one of the most common standard treatments. In some cases, however, especially with long-standing or deep-seated warts, this method may not be sufficiently effective.

After the desired success failed to materialize, treatment was switched to the Nd:YAG laser. This modern laser method targets the blood vessels within the wart. The heat energy of the laser closes these vessels, meaning that the wart is no longer adequately supplied with blood and gradually dies off.

After five laser treatments, complete healing was finally achieved—as the before and after pictures clearly show.

For particularly stubborn warts, it is important to know that even modern procedures may require several sessions. However, the Nd:YAG laser offers a very effective way to treat warts that do not respond adequately to conventional methods.
