Heinrich Auspitz Prize for Dr. Tamara KoppThe dermatologist Univ. Prof. Dr. Tamara Kopp vom the JUVENIS beauty center in Vienna received for her research on psoriasis the Heinrich Auspitz Prize.

Psoriasis (also known as Schuppenflechte) is an inflammatory, non-contagious skin disease in which the body's own tissue is attacked by the immune system. Among other things, the immune system signaling molecule interleukin-23 is involved.

In a study, a total of 77 patients (with moderate to severe symptoms) were injected with different doses of the antibody "Tildrakizumab" or a placebo. In patients who received the highest dose, the skin was up to 100 percent free of the symptoms of psoriasis.

Phase II of the study has now been completed and it is currently in a Phase III clinical trial, which represents the final stage before possible approval.
