Atopic dermatitis is a skin disease that causes chronic eczematous conditions of the skin. Until now there have been corticosteroid ointments for this, which many people are reluctant to use. Dr. Christine Bangert of JUVENIS in Vienna is currently testing an alternative ointment in a study at the Vienna General Hospital (AKH).

Study on a new treatment for atopic dermatitis

A study is currently underway at the AKH Vienna with Dr. Christine Bangert from JUVENIS involving 40 people testing an old antibiotic for Atopic dermatitis. This kills the bacteria on the skin, but is not absorbed by the body and does not cause any lasting resistance. This study is scheduled to be completed in 2018, after which it will be decided whether a larger approval study will follow.
