Skin cycling, a new beauty trend, is supposed to ensure radiantly beautiful and healthy skin. But what is skin cycling? Does the trend deliver what it promises? Dr. Tamara Kopp from JUVENIS in Vienna discusses this new skin care trend in the current issue of Woman magazine.

What is skin cycling?

This modern skincare method was developed by US dermatologist Dr. Whitney Bowe. This evening routine is designed to get the best out of the skin. After cleansing, the skin is treated with different products over 4 days:

  • Exfoliation Night: Exfoliating product
  • Retinoid Night: Product with retinol
  • 2 Recovery Nights: Products to strengthen and soothe

Dr. Tamara Kopp has taken a close look at this new trend and finds it smart: "The alternation between active and recovery phases is very good, the method is simple and concise and therefore very appealing.

With Skin Cycling, the creams contain familiar ingredients, but the cyclical process is new.

But be careful: not all skin problems can be solved with this skincare method: Patients with acne or neurodermatitis must be careful, as an excess of retinol or peeling can lead to irritant eczema, a flare-up of neurodermatitis, or perioral dermatitis. People with sensitive or dry skin (e.g. with late acne) should nevertheless seek advice from a dermatologist in advance.
